Marvin Gaye – I Heard it Through the Grapevine (plus acapella)

I have no idea why I haven’t posted this as an earworm before. Marvin, sweet Marvin.

And as a bonus, here’s the acapella version. One word – Shivers.

Crowded House – Don’t Dream It’s Over

I don’t particularly love this song, but it is a perfect pop ballad, very catchy. And it has taken up residence in my brain.

Caetano Veloso – Nothing but Flowers

Number three in my Joni Mitchell domino earworm. This was written by David Byrne as a response to Big Yellow Taxi. I love Caetano Veloso’s interpretation. Joyous and sweet.

Amy Winehouse – Love is a Losing Game

Last night I went to see Asif Kapadia’s excellent documentary Amy. I left the cinema saddened by the cult of “celebrity culture” and how it can so easily aid self destruction.

This song is rattling round my brain this morning, and it’s so hard to listen to.
