LET MY PEACH TREE BE.
Don’t think I’ve even heard this song recently, but there it is in my brain in all its harmonic glory.
There are so many things I love about this song. The woozy psychedelic phasing, the story, the funky 80s yet timeless groove, the reference to Joni Mitchell, the sound effects, the weird response BVs, the fact that he mentions a fruit cocktail in a sexy voice, and it’s been stuck in my head for weeks.
A soothing song for a Sunday. A dreamy pastoral. Reeeee-lax.
I love a bit of jump jive. Always makes me wish I could do swing dancing. Watch the Nicholas Brothers go wild in the video.
Saw a clip from this on Soul America last night. What an interpretation of song. Never oversinging or bellowing, impressive, emotional, perfect singing. I watched the whole thing this morning and burst into tears. What a loss. I was too young to really understand when he was around.
